· Institute of Children’s Literature—The Institute of Children’s Literature is a great place to go for information, support, ongoing education in the art of writing, and a whole community of writers from beginners to seasoned authors.
· Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators—Formed in 1971, the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators is the largest world-wide organization for children’s writers. Among the services they offer are international and regional conferences, a bi-monthly newsletter, awards, grants and many informational publications.
· Missouri Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators--The Missouri chapter of SCBWI. Regional advisor is Lynnea Brumbaugh. MO SCBWI hosts an annual conference in November featuring editors, agents, writers, and illustrators sure to inform and energize writers and illustrators of all levels of expertise. Leslie is one of the featured speakers for their 2009 conference in St. Charles, MO.
· Write for Kids.com—This helpful website is hosted by the publishers of Children’s Book Insider, a monthly publication dedicated to the writing craft and includes marketing advice, opportunities, and interviews.

· Children’s Literature Festival--A 3-day celebration of children’s literature at UCMO, Warrensburg, MO, featuring fifty-odd authors available to sign copies of their books and talk with groups of students grades 4-10. The Children’s Literature Festival is in its 41st year!
· Children’s Literature Festival of the Ozarks --in its 29th year, the Children’s Lit Fest of the Ozarks gives a unique opportunity for students grades 4-8 to interact with book authors.
· Homeschool Enrichment--a great, practical magazine that Leslie writes for.
